Description

Supporting 4K, HD, and legacy SD workflows, the Ikan VXF7 7″ HDMI/SDI On-Camera Monitor is a versatile monitoring choice for nearly any production situation. Signals input to the monitor are displayed on the 1920 x 1200 resolution LED LCD panel, which can display Full HD signals with no scaling. DCI and UHD 4K signals are supported via HDMI only, while HD or SD signals can be input through digital SDI and HDMI inputs, or analog component and composite inputs (the latter only supports SD signals). All inputs, other than HDMI, use rugged BNC connectors to prevent accidental disconnection. Another professional connection is the tally connector. The diagram on the back of the monitor shows the pin configuration for proper communication with broadcast equipment. Three tally indicator LEDs are located on the rear surface of the monitor.

This monitor includes various accessories so you can use it right out of the box. Use the included ball mount to secure the monitor to a standard accessory shoe. Other 1/4″-20 threaded holes are available for more mounting options. Keep your screen in optimal condition with the included screen protector and cleaning cloth. If you have Sony L-Series type batteries or Canon LP-E6 batteries, use one of the included swappable plates. An AC adapter is included for powering from a wall outlet. Another power option is the 4-pin XLR port which accepts DC power from batteries or professional power supplies. Other features may be added in the future, and the firmware can be updated by using the included USB cable to connect to your computer.

SDI to HDMI Conversion

If you are working in a broadcast environment and require an HDMI display for client or director viewing, the VXF7 can convert and output the SDI signal through the HDMI port, providing more affordable display options.

Peaking

Peaking highlights the sharpest (most in focus) areas of the image with a color outline. The VXF7 features two modes: monochrome and color. The monochrome mode shows the image in black and white with the red peaking outline, and the color peaking mode shows the image in color with a red peaking outline. Both the peaking color and sensitivity can be adjusted in the monitor’s menu system

False Color

The False Color feature provides under/over luminance warning by presenting the image as a series of color values representing exposure.

Clip Guides

This extension of the False Color function allows the operator to set the preferred IRE exposure limits, and the operator is warned when the image exposure either exceeds or is falling under the preset IRE limit.

Movable Pixel-to-Pixel Mapping

1:1 pixel-to-pixel mapping allows you to look at parts of your image without any scaling, so you can see the actual detail and not be fooled by scaling artifacts. Using the navigation keys, the non-scaled area can be moved to analyze other portions of the image.

DSLR Scaling

The DSLR Scaling function enables you to extend your DSLR’s HDMI output to any option of four display options: Normal, 3:2, 16:9 or Full Screen.

Underscan

Constrains the size of the image so you can see exactly what is being recorded.
